Rotary kiln and burner tip

In the rotary kiln refractory castable is used for both nose ring inlet and outlet. While the material for the inlet nose-ring can be the same as that for the kiln inlet chamber, the castable used for nose-ring outlet has a much more complex working mechanism. The refractory lining here is affected by a combination of multiple factors: 1/ High temperature and high abrasion of clinker; 2/ Direct and cumulative expansion of lower transition zone refractory bricks; 3/ Thermal expansion stress and contraction of the kiln shell mouth and the cast steel segments mounted on it; 4/ Continuous thermal shocks are created between the heat of the clinker flow and the secondary air from the cooler; 5/ Fast heat-up speed when the kiln put to operation can cause cracking and explosion of the newly casted refractory (because it is usually the last item of refractory lining work to complete before the kiln start-up).

Novaref has been optimized products Novacast-SiC30N, Novacast-SiC30NZ specifically for nose-ring outlet of rotary kiln with superior performance such as mechanical strength, high abrasion resistance, good thermal shock resistance, low thermal expansion, and fast dry-out, ensuring a long service life in rotary kilns.

The burner tip is the area of harshest working conditions. Refractory here must endure direct heat radiation from the burner flame and from the highest temperature of burning zone in rotary kiln, and erosion due to clinker dust flow combined with very high chemical corrosion from alkaline evaporation and sulfur salts and melt fluxes produced from coal burning.  Novacast-SiC30B and Novacast-SiC30BF products are specialized for burner tip lining that can withstand harsh conditions and ensure long service life for kiln operation cycle.
