For working environments with highly volatile alkaline substances, especially in the lower cyclones and calciner, it is required to have a layer of refractory material with good alkaline resistance and the ability to prevent raw material powder build-up which may cause reducing operating capacity and meal chute clogging problems.

Kiln inlet chamber is the transition part from the preheater tower to the rotary kiln - where raw materials are brought from the static system to the dynamic system, and at the same time, exhaust gases from the furnace are transported though.

In the rotary kiln refractory castable is used for both nose ring inlet and outlet. While the material for the inlet nose-ring can be the same as that for the kiln inlet chamber, the castable used for nose-ring outlet has a much more complex working mechanism. The refractory lining here is affected by a combination of multiple factors:

The refractory lining is subject to abrasion from clinker dust, thermal shock from hot air and erosion from volatile alkalis. Suitable products: Novacast-60LC, Novacast-SiC15, Novacast-60AZ. Products for gunning application solution include: Novagun-60LC, Novagun-SiC15, Novagun-60AZ.

In this part of kiln, the different positions are subject to very different impacts from the working environment. While the grate wall and "horseshoe" are subject to high impact and abrasion from clinker, the upper wall and roof are affected by alkaline vapor and clinker dust. Suitable products: Novacast-80AZ, Novacast-60AZ for grate wall and "horseshoe"; Novacast-40AR, Novacast-50AR, Novacast-80MCH for cooler upper wall and roof. Products for gunning solution include: Novagun-40AR, Novagun-50AR.

With the trend of saving energy and reducing carbon footprint in production, more and more cement plants are equipped with heat recovery systems from clinker cooling to generate electric power. The refractory layer for hot air ducts is designed to be thin so it has high abrasion resistance from clinker dust and has insulation properties to reduce heat loss. Suitable materials to use are heat-resistant and abrasion-resistant grout Novaflex-1000H, Novaflex-1200H, for patching or gunning onto the hex-mesh layer welded to the inner shell of the hot air duct, or Novacast-60AZ, Novagun-60AZ for casting or gunning into areas with sufficient thickness according to design.
